To some countries, it is a major reason for celebration when Apple decides to open a new Apple store – China is one of these countries, the local community being quite fond of Apple products. The company is aware of its great popularity in China and has come up with a plan of expanding its stores in this country even since 2010, when they announced their intention of opening 25 stores here by the end of 2012. The brand’s efforts to expand sales in China were marked by the opening of a store in Shanghai.
The first store opened by Apple in Hong Kong on September 24, 2011 was also their 100th store opened outside the US. Currently, Apple has 5 stores in China, out of which none in the Southern region, where the most important cities, such as Chengdu and Shenzhen, are to be found. There are 2 Apple stores in Beijing and 3 in Shanghai.
Every Apple store opened in China attracts huge crowds, which are gathering in front of the location waiting for the doors to open for the first time. This is reason enough for the company to make an effort and expand their outlets in the country.
Apple is now considering covering the Southern area by opening 3 stores – in Chengdu, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The first two of these cities are of particular importance for Apple. The production line of iPad is based in Chengdu; the 2 cities are important sites of the brand’s partner manufacturing subsidies. Chengdu, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are more than eager to have their Apple store – China definitely knows how to reward the brand’s efforts to expand their stores in Asia.
Apple opened their largest store in Asia on October 20, 2012 in Beijing. The opening of the Wangfujing store was celebrated, as usual, with fanfare and welcomed by a huge crowd of anxious customers. The store, with its three-level glass staircase (only 2 such Apple stores exist in the world) and its dual 360-degree bar counters is a spectacular attraction for both the Chinese people and foreign visitors.
Unique particularities and a huge supportive crowd are the attributes of each Apple store China is home to.
